What it takes to achieve durable impact at scale
On Day 1, philanthropists will meet with leaders from NGOs, business, and government to examine viable pathways to scale and how they can work collaboratively to address societal challenges at international, national, and regional levels.
Framed by global research on successful scaling, the day will include international, national and local examples of best practices in action. Discussion will focus on mobilizing collaborative efforts to address 6 key problems: youth employment, dropout prevention, girls’ empowerment, water and watersheds, hospice and palliative care, and community cohesion.
Day 2 - Thursday, 8 October 2026
Rethinking philanthropy with scale in mind
On Day 2, participants will engage in candid, off-the-record discussions focused on the highestpriority use of philanthropy to meet society’s most pressing needs in today’s complex and rapidly evolving world.
The day will include presentation of new findings from the Scaling Community of Practice, drawn from 11 years of intensive global research and deep dives into the funding practices of 28 major global funders.
The day also will prepare participants for optional Day Three follow-up activities tailored to individual interests and areas of engagement.
Day 3 - Friday, 9 October 2026
Community Follow-Up
Participation on this day is optional.
Day 3 will begin with a public event recounting and celebrating San Miguel’s 75 years of organized philanthropy. Following the public event, participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with the San Miguel de Allende community through customized field visits.
These visits will be tailored to meet participants’ individual interests, including follow-ups from Forum discussions and guided exploration of local initiatives and organizations.
